Resolved Question: Sports scandal? Baseball/football?

I was wondering if say a 19 year old who was a great athlete had the chance of going pro in football or baseball but when he was 17 was engaged to a 22 year old girl and she had gotten pregnant would that cause a scandal and/or police investigation and possibly ruin his career?
