I am having a lot of trouble deciding, since I like both of these sports equally and they're AWESOME! Right now, since I am a sophomore in high school and want to be more active in sports because I wasn't very active in my freshman year, so I want to try out new things, and I don't want to be bored for these next 3 years, you know? Anyway, back to tennis and baseball. Here are my views: Tennis: Pros: a very fun sport that's relaxing to play because you hit the ball back and forth across the tennis court, and you can play either solo or as a team with someone else(singles and doubles). I could play for hours and not get bored, and this could be the perfect sport for me, but I don't know yet. Cons: the matches can be VERY long and may take 2 or more days to complete a match because you and your opponent are at the same skill level, which is boring for me. I hope I wouldn't have to have a match for that long, but I'm just saying... Also, you can't always choose(or not at all) who your partner will be in doubles or choose whether you want to be in a singles or doubles match. I'm very worried that I'll get a mean partner who won't work with me and I might lose if I'm in singles or anything like that. I'm not good at this sport, and it's kind of hard for me to adjust to the difficulty, since you have to practice A LOT. Baseball: Pros: I have been wanting to do this sport for a very long time, ever since I was little and was inspired by watching a Cleveland Indians game. Anyway, when I'm batting, I feel like I'm the center of attention of everyone because they're looking at me like I'm a movie star or something(I wouldn't do this sport for popularity, by the way, because that's not what baseball is about.), waiting fofor me to hit the ball. If I do good, yeehaw. It'll be good for the team. If I do bad, yeehaw. Everyone will(hopefully) know that I tried my best and gave it my all.( There's something about this sport that makes me feel comfortable with people watching me, and I can't quite figure out what it is yet.) I am a pretty fast runner who can make it to the bases, and I can make it to home plate 75-80% of the time, which is good. On the field, I can be a reasonably good pitcher, and a catcher too, since I have the baseball glove to help me catch the ball better. Cons: On fielding, I not that good at catching, and I can't choose whether to be a pitcher or not since only 1 person can take that position. I drop the ball more than I should and have an "ok" hand-eye coordination. There are harder conditioning exercises as well(which I should get used to). Anyway, those are my views. These are sports that make me feel comfortable and make me think "This is the best sport ever", but I can't decide. Can you help me? Also, since I have never been on a tennis or baseball team before, will it be too late to join now because I never did these sports before? I like tennis too, and I understand that it takes a lot of practice by the way. And how do I convince my parents to join one of these sports? I get REALLY nervous about trying out new things, you see.... Read More »
