Open Question: Is team handball fun?

I am from Chicago but I don't see too much of team handball. I heard it's pretty popular in Europe. Are there in clubs in Chicago? I am a freshman and my high school doesn't have a team. Is it fun? Is It physical? Can you hit/tackle? What are the rules? Is it easy to make the team in college? Is it popular in the USA? Is it easy to become a pro team handball player?
